About Civic Lane
Civic Lane is a student led initiative focused on bringing civic awareness and participation in rural India. The initiative was started by Prithvi Dua in 2023 with the belief that civic habits form early and that students who understand their responsibilities as responsible citizens carry those values beyond the classroom. That is how communities progress and transform.
In partnership with the KCS Foundation and Human Aid Foundation, Civic Lane empowers students with the knowledge of civic rights and responsibilities to become active citizens and create meaningful impact in their communities.
Besides imparting training, the project has also helped students navigate government scholarships and healthcare schemes including application process for families holding the Bihar Labour Card, particularly under the Cash Prizes Scheme and the Financial Assistance for Studies scheme which could help students to receive up to Rs 25,000 in annual scholarships.

Many young people want to make a difference but are rarely taught how.
Civic awareness is often seen as a simple and well-understood concept, yet in most parts of India development is still expected to come only from the government and the local authorities are solely held responsible for uncleanliness, pollution, and unmanageable traffic. Civic Lane aims to address this disconnect by highlighting why civic participation matters, helping people move from good intentions to consistent action through understanding, empathy, and development of positive habits.
While students in rural communities have access to smartphones and social media, few know how to use digital tools for civic empowerment. Our objective is to make students aware of the range of government support available to them: including education scholarships and healthcare schemes. Through role-plays and hands- on activities, students witness the impact of their actions.

Founder's Story
Prithvi Dua is a student at Jumeirah College, Dubai, and the founder of Civic Lane.
The idea behind Civic Lane was sparked by my experience with an inspiring micro-entrepreneur in Rajasthan who turns elephant dung into paper, manufacturing stationery items with it and generating employment for local women. To support him, I volunteered to market his products and guided him in securing a collateral free loan under Mudra Yojana, a government initiative towards inclusive access to credit.
This interaction made me realise the lack of awareness and civic engagement amongst underserved communities where widespread digital access is being leveraged primarily for entertainment rather than empowerment.
